Fantastic Fishing on Vancouver Island

April Point Resort & Spa - July 20, 2006

What great week we’ve had here at April Point and Painter’s Lodge.

First, the weather: it’s been absolutley beautiful, sunny and hot. And this weekend is going to be even hotter.

Secondly, the fishing. The fish coming in these days have been big and beautiful. Most Chinook are averaging in the 20 – 25 lb range. We caught another Tyee salmon, too. Actually Gary Tatton caught the Tyee, a nice 30 ½ pounder.

Finally, our whale watching and wildlife tours have been spectacular. They’ve seen numerous dolphins and orcas and even a few bears combing the beach for a little something to eat. There have been tonnes of eagles around as well — in some places as many as 50 at a time. When the tide is flooding its brings the hake up to top making dinner an easy catch for the eagles.

Come and check out all the wonderful adventures April Point has to offer.
