Tastes of April Point: September 14 - 16, 2012

Get away to Quadra Island and pamper yourself with Tastes of everything April Point, a food and wine celebration!

Indulge your taste buds in everything from international and Vancouver Island wines and cheeses to exotic teas, gourmet cuisine, wild mushrooms, chocolate, biodynamic wines and more during this weekend of delightful indulgence.

This weekend will showcase a selection of local Vancouver Island wines from two wineries whose reputations are growing in leaps and bounds.

Stefen Soltysiak, director of education for Rodney Strong Vineyards, will lead guests through a Biodynamic Wine seminar and discussion on growing. Rodney Strong Vineyards has been recognized as Sonoma County's first carbon neutral winery; their efforts are well reflected in their approach to sustainable farming practices, solar power and green business practices. Stefen will also host a five-course gourmet dinner paired with the best of Californian and international wines. As a Certified Wine Educator, Stefen shares practical and theoretical knowledge of wines discovered through decades of experience in the industry.

Other features of the weekend include a selection of local cheeses; a mushroom harvest of tastes, textures and cooking techniques; a presentation on bean-to-bar chocolates with perfect pairings and an exotic tea session. The weekend is topped off with a luxurious Sunday brunch.

Weekend Package – $389

About April Point

April Point Resort & Spa is a west coast oasis tucked into a protected cove on Quadra Island. The resort's rooms and cabins are nestled in the trees and each have beautiful ocean views.

Guests spend time in the Aveda Spa, explore Quadra Island on interpretive tours or get to know the area's spectacular residents on wildlife tours.

Or, they simply sit back and let the stresses of the world slip away.

From Vancouver take the ferry to Nanaimo and take the Island Highway to Campbell River. (We recommend taking the Old Island Highway which hugs the scenic coast and takes you through the island's charming villages.) From Campbell River either take the free 10 minute water shuttle from Painter's Lodge or BC Ferries' 10 minute ferry to Quadra Island.
